What Files are Required for Professional PCB & PCBA Manufacturing?

In the world of high-precision electronics—especially for advanced Stage Lighting and Smart Home applications—the bridge between a brilliant design and a perfect physical product is the Data. At Mingen Electronics (鸣恩电子), we believe that a seamless manufacturing process starts with a complete and accurate data package.

To help our global partners and overseas Chinese engineers accelerate their time-to-market, we’ve compiled this essential checklist of the files required to start your next PCB or PCBA project.

1. The Core: PCB Fabrication Files (Gerber or Source)

To manufacture the bare board, we need the “blueprint” of your circuitry.

  • Gerber Files (RS-274X preferred): This is the industry standard. Please ensure your export includes:
    • Copper layers (Top & Bottom)
    • Solder Mask layers (To protect the board)
    • Silkscreen layers (For component labeling)
    • Drill files (Excellon format for holes and vias)
  • Alternative Source Files: We also support direct files from Altium Designer (.PcbDoc), Eagle (.brd), or KiCad.Mingen Tip: Providing native files can sometimes help our engineers perform a quicker DFM (Design for Manufacturability) check for your complex stage lighting controllers.

2. For Assembly: The Bill of Materials (BOM)

If you require PCBA (Assembly) services, the BOM is the most critical document.

  • Format: Excel (.xlsx) or CSV is best.
  • Must-Have Columns:
    • Designator: (e.g., R1, C10, U5)
    • Quantity: How many per board.
    • Manufacturer Part Number (MPN): To ensure we source the exact IC or LED.
    • Description: (e.g., 10k Ohm, 0603, 1% Resistor).
    • Package/Footprint: (e.g., 0805, QFN-32, SMT).

3. Precision Placement: Centroid File (Pick & Place)

For our automated SMT machines to place components with microscopic accuracy, we need the “GPS coordinates” of your components.

  • Data Required: Designator, X/Y Coordinates, Rotation, and Layer (Top or Bottom).
  • Importance: This is vital for high-density boards used in Smart Home devices where space is at a premium.

4. Visual Guidance: Assembly Drawings & Photos

Even with perfect data, a visual reference prevents errors.

  • Assembly PDF: A clear drawing showing component polarity (like the “+” on an electrolytic capacitor or the “Pin 1” on a chip).
  • Reference Photos: If you have a working prototype or a previous version, high-resolution photos are incredibly helpful for our assembly team.

5. Specialized Requirements (The Details Matter)

For Stage Lighting fixtures that handle high power and heat, please specify:

  • Stack-up Requirements: (e.g., 1.6mm thickness, 2oz copper for high current).
  • Surface Finish: (e.g., HASL, ENIG/Immersion Gold for better soldering).
  • Special Instructions: Does the board require a Metal Core (Aluminum PCB) for heat dissipation? Or a specific Solder Mask Color (like Matte Black for light-absorbing stage components)?

[Conclusion] Preparing a clean data package is the first step toward a successful product launch. At Mingen Electronics, we don’t just “take the order”—our engineering team provides a free DFM Review to catch potential issues before the first board is even printed.

KB-6160A vs KB-6164 vs HF-140: PCB Laminate Guide

As the world’s largest copper clad laminate manufacturer, Kingboard Chemical Group has earned its position through consistent material quality trusted by PCB manufacturers and electronics engineers worldwide. For any PCB factory or PCB design team specifying board materials, selecting the right laminate from Kingboard’s lineup is a foundational decision that affects thermal reliability, regulatory compliance, and long-term product performance. Among Kingboard’s most widely used substrates, KB-6160A vs KB-6164 vs HF-140 represent three distinct engineering choices — standard UV-blocking FR-4, lead-free process optimized FR-4, and halogen-free FR-4. This guide breaks down each material’s key parameters and application fit, so PCB buyers across the USA, Singapore, Australia, and Europe can make a precise substrate selection before production begins.
